Jimmie Wellborne Lee, age 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 11, 2019 in Sugar Land, Texas. Jimmie was born on August 6, 1934 in Minden, Louisiana to parents Robert Mosley and Pearl Elizabeth (Hulsey) Lee.
Jimmie served in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic during the Korean War. He later worked as a mechanic/machine operator in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas and retired from Ark-La Gas. Jimmie was an avid reader who was always reading the newspaper, a new book or magazine. His father was a skilled carpenter and helped Jimmie build the home where he would live with his family for many years. Jimmie also enjoyed gardening and growing vegetables to feed the family. He shared a love of cars and working on them with son Donald. Jimmie enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was always available to help with projects. In retirement, he joined the sheriff’s posse and volunteered to ride along.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his wife, Margie Lee and son, Donald Lee. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Waller; daughter, Debra Shirey and husband David; granddaughter, Rachel Goodson and husband Gavin; granddaughters, Marsha Lee and Emily Lee; and great granddaughters, Elena Goodson and Amelia Goodson.
There will be a visitation on Friday, March 15, 2019, at 2:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm to be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 Highway 80 East, Haughton, Louisiana. Military honors at graveside will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
