Jerry was born Tuesday, July 17, 1956, to the proud parents Curtis and Helen Ellis, in Marks, Mississippi. Jerry was the first born of ten Ellis children. The family was in Bossier City while Jerry was in his teens, as Jerry went to Bossier High School.
Jerry’s father loved to travel and some of that sure ‘rubbed-off’ on Jerry, as Jerry’s profession was that of a Truck Driver. Not only would he be tuned into his CB Radio for Traffic reports, he’d be tuned into FM Radio in hopes of hearing his favorite song: Long Cool Woman in Black Dress. Jerry enjoyed a lot of things, especially camping and fishing. Jerry was known for being a kind-soul and appreciating the simple things in life, as simply seeing kids playing would always bring a smile to his face.
Yet, what Jerry loved most was his big ole family, as he was a very loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.
Preceding Mr. Ellis in death were: his youngest child, a son, Michael Ellis; brother, Chuckie Lyn Ellis, brother Curtis Washington Ellis; father; Curtis Ellis; and mother Helen Jennie Stafford Ellis.
Mr. Ellis is survived by: his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth Murphy Ellis; son, Jerry Ray Ellis, daughter, LaRhonda Ellis Moore; step-sons, Dennis Webster, John Goode, and Charles Goode. Also left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy are: grandchildren, Stephanie Moore, Brittani Ellis, Markus Moore, Doug Moore, Jordan Moore, Rachel Ellis, Michael Ellis Angle Webster, Daniel Webster, Diesel Webster, London Goode, Jonathan Goode, and Jayden Goode; and eleven, great-grandchildren; along with seven siblings: Donald Ellis, Diane Ellis McGurk, John William Ellis, Rita Ellis Holloway, Norma Ellis Netherland, Steve Ellis, and Chris Ellis.
A celebration of life for Jerry will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2020, within the Chapel of Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, Haughton, LA.
