Janie Lee Smith

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Services for Mrs. Janie Lee Butcher Smith, 78, of Bossier City, LA will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Herb Armentrout of Broadmoor Baptist Church with burial following in the Hill Crest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, November 16, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Hill Crest Funeral Home.

Mrs.Smith was born Monday, November 23, 1936 and passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015. She married the love of her life, J. D. Smith, on September 17, 1955. Although Janie was a homemaker, she spent 18 years as the secretary for J & C Garage, her husband’s business. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Janie is preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Smith; her parents; her two brothers; and her best friend, Nell Moore.

Survivors include her four daughters and their husbands: Vickie (Doug) Beverly, Kathy (William) Whitfield, Danielle (Jimmy) Digilormo, and Michelle (Shayne) Gibson; two sisters, Avenelle Neds and Merle Moody; sister-in-law, Violet Smith Means; ten grandchildren: Tori (Bryan), Billy, Brianne (Brent), Jeffery, Daniel, Whitney, Cody, Dakota, Kaitlyn and Jordan; and three great-granddaughters: Tabitha, AnnaLynne, and Adalynne.

The family would like to thank WK Bossier nurses Sheila, Jennifer, Claudia, Courtney, Savannah, Maddie, Robin, and especially Kathryn for the special care they provided our mother in this most difficult time.
