A memorial service celebrating the life of James “Jim” Melton Lewis, 75, will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 11 AM, with Bro Billy Pierce officiating.
Jim was born on June 28, 1935 in Shreveport, LA and died on October 18, 2010.
Jim served in the United States Marine Corps, where he served one tour of duty in Vietnam, and retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service, where he served in the Korean conflict. After his retirement from the Air Force, Jim worked for the United States Postal Service until his retirement.
Jim is preceded in death by his father, Horace Shelton Lewis, mother, Emma Hogan Lewis, twin brother, William Shelton Lewis, and great granddaughter, Gabrielle Brooke Marr.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Virginia Crafton Lewis, daughters, Elizabeth Spradling, Lenae White and husband David, and Sondra Tikker; grandchildren, Jason Heffern and Danielle Headrick, Lauren Garris and Paula Billiot, Jennifer Marr and husband Erik, Megan Ross and husband Wesley, Terryn Tikker, Haley White, Hannah White, Austin White; great grandchildren, Kyleigh Moore, Isabel Heffern, Braxton Heffern, Jackson Shelton, Kadence Lewis, Kinsley Ross, Nathanial Ross, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Heffern, David White, Austin White, Tim Tacker, Erik Marr and Wesley Ross.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
