A visitation will be held Thursday, September 9th, between 5 – 7 pm, with Rosary at 6 pm, within the Chapel of Hill Crest Memorial, Haughton. A Graveside Funeral Mass will be the next day, September 10th at 1:00 pm within the Hill Crest Cemetery, with Ftr. Fidel presiding.
James was born February 16, 1952, in Mamou, Louisiana to the proud parents Harvey and Lena Fontenot.
Mr. Fontenot was a true outdoorsman. James loved to fish, especially for white perch. Additionally, he was a hunter, coming home with plenty of doves and squirrels. He loved his Lord, as he was a long time parishioner of Christ The King Catholic Church. Most of all, James loved spending time with his family, with a good cup of coffee.
Mr. Fontenot was preceded by: father, Harvey Joseph Fontenot; mother, Lena Fontenot Luther; son, Timothy James Fontenot; step-father, Everett Jack Luther (Pa Jack); and brother, Jean Paul Fontenot.
Surviving Mr. Fontenot are: his wife Mary Sue Fontenot; sister, Jean Williams; daughters, Tonya Eguaras and Kristi Vercher. Other’s to carry on the legacy of their “Papa” are grandchildren, Torrie Dove, Amanda Lauter, Shelby Lauter, Toby Fontenot, Trey Fontenot, Tara Fontenot, Alexander Eguaras; great grandchildren, Noah Dove, Sawyer Dove, and Scarlet Fontenot, as well as any other youngster that walked through his door.
Pallbearers: Toby Fontenot, Trey Fontenot, Jerry Williams, Jr., Jody Williams, Mike Lewis, and Roger Dove. Honorary Pallbearers: Noah Dove and Sawyer Dove.
