James Robert Corrales was born on September 7, 1950 in Natchitoches Louisiana to James Shirl Corrales and Dorothy Dean Frye Corrales. Robert was one of five children. From the beginning of his life he lived it to the fullest. He took every opportunity he had to spend time and create memories with loved ones.
Robert was preceded death by his father, James Shirl Corrales; mother, Dorothy Dean Frye; and brother, Dennis Ray Corrales. He leaves behind his daughter, Michelle (Mimi) Corrales Whatley and husband Rob Whatley; grandson, Ty Whatley; granddaughter, Peyton Whatley; son, James Robert (Bert) Corrales, Jr.; granddaughters, Brittany Corrales Knipp and Kilie Corrales; sister, Sue Corrales Pohl and husband Mark; brothers, Russell Corrales and wife Debra, and Donnie Corrales and wife Teri; his wife of 18 years, Jan Willis Corrales; stepdaughter, Penny Holland husband Kevin; stepdaughter, Vicky Haygood and husband Jim; along with their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Robert enjoyed building his control line planes and flying them in competition. Robert loved riding dirt bikes and taking Bert to compete in races. They were known at every racetrack as Bonzai Bert and Half Fast Corrales. The nick name did not bother him, he was there to make memories with his son. Robert was everyone's MacGyver, he could build anything with his hands. He was known all over as being the best painter and wall paper hanger there was. He was a perfectionist in everything he did. All of Bert and Mimi's friends wanted to be at their house because Robert was the cool dad. Mr. "C" is what most of the guys called him. Robert loved dressing to the nines with Jan and attending functions such as dances, Mardi Gras banquets and float parties with the Artemis Krewe of Springhill, Louisiana. Robert sure could do a mean Robot to "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen when he wanted to. Robert was a wonderful dad, husband, brother, uncle, grandfather, stepdad, step-granddad and step-great granddad.
To sum Robert's life up would be to say that Robert was loved by ALL and loved ALL with his whole heart!!! There will forever be a void in so many lives without him. We can all take comfort in knowing he is now pain free and walking The Streets of Gold with the Lord.
The family requests that everyone, except those who can not due to a medical condition, please wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
