Born in Alba Texas, on March 2nd 1934 to Faye and Floyd Brewer, Jack learned early from his folks to value hard work. He joined the Marines at a very early age and proudly served in the Honor Guard. His experience in the Marines would continue to play an important role in his life, and Jack attributed much of his success in life and business to the discipline he gained during that time in the service.
Jack went on to marry his loving wife, Mary Baker Brewer (1935-2014) and they were blessed with four children. Together Jack and Mary would begin a business in Bossier City Louisiana, from humble beginnings and sacrifice that would span 50 years. Brewer Quality Homes was a testament to the principles of hard work, discipline, and integrity that they both valued and was a blessing and honorable example to their family as well as the community.
Jack, aka Mr. B was loved and respected as a pillar in the community by all who have had the privilege to know him. However, he would proudly point to his greatest achievement being the blessing of watching his family grow to include 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, who all love their Papa! He was his happiest gathered around the table with his family all around him. Truly Proverbs 17:6 pertains to his life. “Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.”
Joyfully greeting Jack in paradise is his precious wife Mary, his two beloved sons, Donnie R. Brewer Sr. and Jack R. Brewer Jr., a great granddaughter, Lillian Adams, and 3 brothers, James, Jerry, and Truman Brewer.
Left to honor his memory are his sister Barbara (Don) Boyd, brother Paul (Denise) Brewer, daughters Amy (Steve) Adams, Patti (Kurt) Ley, grandchildren Jerome (Katie), J.P., and Ben (Porsha) Adams, Drew (Katie), Dan, Matt, Mary (Michael Greene), Joe and Claire Ley, Donnie Brewer Jr. and Casey (Lee) Robinson and 23 great grandchildren.
We are so grateful and honored by all who wish to join us in celebration of our dear Dad, Brother, and Papa. In lieu of flowers we respectfully request to honor Jack through the donation to a charity of your choice or to either of his two favorites, Care Pregnancy Center and Shreveport Bossier Rescue Mission.
