Howard David Neely, a resident of Luling, LA, passed away on April 8, 2024 at the age of 79. He was born April 19, 1944 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Preceded in death by his parents Olin H. Neely and Mena C. Neely and his wife, Janet M. Neely. Howard is survived by his brother Albert C. Neely of Bossier City, LA., his daughter, Barbara Neely Self of Luling, LA., and his grandchildren, Tanya Colomb (Thomas) and Troy “Bubby” Self, Jr. of Roseland, LA.
He attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA where he earned his degree in Business Administration. After getting his degree, he entered the U. S. Army and served from 1968 through 1977 where he earned the rank of Captain. He was a MediVac helicopter pilot in Vietnam with the 82 MED DET, “Dustoff”.
After leaving the military, he worked as a hospital administrator at various hospitals, including St. Charles Parish Hospital in Luling, LA. and as a Business Manager at Bogalusa School District. He enjoyed computers and technology, earning numerous degrees in Microsoft and Networking. He was a lifetime member of the V. F. W. Post 3750 and American Legion Post 131 in Luling, LA.
Services will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home on Friday April 19, 2024. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m., with a service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Kendall Docter will be leading the service.
