Funeral services for Howard Jones, 76, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2011 at the Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Andy Harris and Pastor Kent Craft of Central Assembly of God officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Hilll Crest Funeral Home.
Mr. Jones entered into rest February 10, 2011 in Haughton.He was diagnosed with cancer in 1998 and was given six months to live. He entered Heaven's gate to join the love of his life after a thirteen-year battle with cancer. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran , a retired Tool Pusher, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, a member of Central Assembly of God Church, and a resident of Haughton since 1968.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lela Morgan Jones.
Survivors include his three children, James Howard (Jim) Jones and wife Dixie of Bossier City, LA; Audie Lewis Jones and wife Diane of Haughton, LA; and Patsy Jones English and husband Dennis of Bossier City, LA. He is survived by two sisters, Frances Pisan; Mildred Rowe and husband Robert of Charleston, MS; and a brother Harold Jones and wife O'Dell of Crowder,MS; seven grandchildren, Matt Jones, Mandy Jones, Chris English, Crystal Carr, Jessica Jones, Nathan Jones, Caleb English; and four great-grandchildern, Zoe Jones, Damian Carr, Luke English, Lexi English, and soon to be Melodee Carr.
Pallbearers will be grandsons,( Matt Jones, Chris English, Ryan Carr, Nathan Jones, Caleb English), and Royce McManus.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Thurman Oliver.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Raghu Nathan of Bossier City, LA; and Dr. Edward Abraham of Tulsa, OK, for their kind and devoted care.
Our father lived a courageous, determined life and fought cancer with all his might. He was a mighty warrior for God who was totally devoted to his family.
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day..."
