Heather Marie Zachry

A Celebration of Life service will be held for Heather Zachry on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Haughton, LA. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Funeral. Rev. Gevan Spinney will be officiating the service. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.

Heather was born August 13, 1973 in Riverside CA, to Mark and Debbie Steele. She passed away on October 23, 2011 at the age of 38 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the Director of Nursing at Heritage Manor Stratmore in Shreveport; a member of the First Baptist Church of Haughton, a 1991 graduate of Haughton High School, and a 2000 graduate of Southern Arkansas University in Nursing. She enjoyed boating, amateur pool league, riding motorcycles, hanging out with family and friends, and watching the LSU Tigers. Heather loved life and being a nurse to all of her residents at her nursing home, but her greatest achievement was her son, Tyler.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, William and Shirley Clough; grandfather, Richard Steele; paternal grandparents, Patricia and Duane Troup.

Survivors include her son, Tyler Austin Zachry; parents, Mark and Debbie Steele; sister, Cheryl Lewis and husband Mark; brother, Justin Steele and wife Kate; fiance’, Kevin Anderson, nieces, Alana, Allison, and Averi; grandmother, Laura Steele; Kevin’s parents, Andy and Laura Anderson; and her pets, Zoe and Harley.

Pallbearers will be Cody Hemperley, Chase Nichols, Anthony Taravella, Brett Cain, Chad Weese, and Jimmy Edwards.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Schutza and Tommy McEntyre.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

The family request that everyone in attendance “wear pink” in honor of Heather and Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
