Dear Pop,  It has been a long and short year since you left us to go to heaven. I still can't believe you are gone.  Life goes on as it has a habit of doing but, not a day goes by that your memorie doesnt come to mind in the little things that touch our lives.  The other day I smell cigar smoke and thought of you in the kitchen as you were so many times, cooking something great to eat even if it was just a simple grill cheese sandwhich.  We miss you so much and are so greatful for the time we had.  You showed us what a true father is.  Im only sorry for your great grandchildren who will never know how great your hugs feel and the advatage of you vast knowledge.  I hope you knew how much we love and respect you. Pop, you were the light in many peoples lives.  I'm not sure if you every really knew just how much an impact you made in other peoples lives.  I for one am very proud to call myself Gregory J Padula's daughter and i miss you terribly  All my Heart Trisha

I am so glad that I was able to meet Grandpa and enjoy the many stories he liked to tell.  You could tell he loved talking about the past and reminiscing with family and friends.  My deepest and heartfelt sympathy to all of you.  I, unfortunately, cannot be there, but you are all in my thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.  God Bless.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another. 

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Gregory Joseph Padula our Brother-in-Arms and fellow Legionnaire.  To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Gregory.  And to Gregory it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during WW-II and the Korean War while serving in the U.S. Air Force and for his 50 years of dedicated service to the American Legion.   Gregory, as a “Paid for Life” Legionnaire, you were a valued member of American Legion Post 14, a wonderful comrade, and a true Patriot.  We bid you a sad farewell.  You will be dearly missed from among our ranks.  Be at Ease.  Rest in Peace.
