Gerald had several nicknames in his life; Frenchie, Froggy, Cuz and especially Pepaw. Pepaw loved life, was a fun and free spirited Cajun, and loved by all walks of life. Pepaw loved his 20 year career in the United States Navy, entering at 16 during World War II serving in the Pacific fleet. After the war he was honorably discharged and entered once again during the Korean War completing a 20 year career. During his service he received several distinguished awards. While in the Navy he accomplished many duties. He was a laundry man, a tailor, and a cobbler. He retired in Bossier City with his family. After retirement he worked at the Army Ammunition Plant, managed Sears Shoe Repair, owned and operated the Post Office Shoe Repair, worked at Life of Georgia, and retired for the last time from Horseshoe Casino. Pepaw had many hobbies and interest; he loved to play the horses and have a good time with anybody who was around.
