Following college, he served in the Army, working in intelligence in Korea and later managing a training company at Fort Knox. After his military service, Gene began his accounting career in Shreveport, Louisiana, before moving to Houston, Texas, where he embraced his passions. He loved model trains, photography, and listening to cassettes until his final days.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Eleanor Tohill.
He is survived by his brothers, Don, Henry, and Tommy; sister-in-law, Irma Tohill, and many nieces and nephews: David, Kimberly, Johnathan, Katherine, Christopher, Ashley, Daniel, Gabriela, and Tommy J. Tohill.
A visitation for Gene will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024 beginning 12:00 pm at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 1:00 pm.
