Graveside services to honor the life of Mr. Ernest D. Cook, 90, will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 13, 2020, at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Ernest was born on April 7, 1930 in South Fallsburg, NY and passed away in Bossier City, LA on November 9, 2020.
Ernest graduated from South Fallsburg High School in 1947, participating in wrestling and soccer. He attended electronics trade school in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Cook was active duty United States Air Force from 1948-1952 as Radio Operator on B-17 aircraft in Kansas and Louisiana. Ernest worked as Service Manager for Motorola, Sony and Schuster Distributing. In 2001 Ernest joined the Bossier City Water Department as Dispatcher and retired in 2011. Ernest also operated a gift shop at Greenwood Flea Market selling miniature doll houses and aroma fragrance oils and lamps.
Mr. Cook's hobbies included bowling, building and flying model airplanes, wood working and country western dancing with his wife Barbara. He loved studying history, playing poker with his family and an occasional visit to the local casinos.
Ernest was a kind and gentle soul with a big heart for his wife Barbara, family, pets and friends. He loved to laugh, playing jokes and telling interesting stories of his life adventures.
Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his sons, William Jeffrey and Richard Jason Cook; brother, Wesley Cook; sister, Geraldine Delgado; parents, Ernest and Erma Cook; and nephew, Clayton Cook. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Young Cook; sons, Robert “Bobby” Cook, Wesley Cook, Terrance “Terry” Cook and wife Marsha, Brian Justin Cook and wife Tiffeny, and Kenneth Jarrell Cook; daughters, Patricia Phillips and husband Stephen, Wanda Jacelyn “Jackie” Cook and wife Michelle, and Lea Jennifer Cook; sister-in-law, Eleanor Cook; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family requests that all in attendance dress casual.
