Celebration of life service for Eleanor Virginia Chandler French, 80, will be held at Hill Crest Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 30th, 2011 at 10:00 am. Rev. Melton Prothro, Rev. Gevan Spinney, and Rev. Darrell Cooper will officiate the services. Visitation will be held at Hill Crest Funeral Home, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, March 29th. Interment will be at Hill Crest Cemetery in Haughton.
Eleanor was a member of Haughton Baptist Church where she experienced a personal relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord. She was also a member of the Princeton Baptist Church where she met her loving husband of almost 60 years, Sherman Warren French. She worked as a teacher’s aide in the Bossier Parish School system.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank R. and Gillie Chandler, three sisters, Annie Roach, Bessie Hines, and Doris Walden, three brothers Frank Chandler, Jr., LC Chandler, and George Chandler.
She is survived by her husband Sherman French, of Haughton, three sisters Mary Grace Woodward of Haughton, Dorothy Cook and husband Flin Cook of Haughton, and Gillie Jean Kruithof of Bossier City. She is also survived by Linda Netherton and husband Steve of Haughton, Tony “Rocky” French and wife Ginger of Anna, Texas, Ricky French and wife Shari of Vevay, Indiana, and Tina Sheffield husband Charles "Bubba" of Haughton. She also had six Grandchildren, Ryan French, Kasey Golden, Chad French, Kristina Shaw, Jessica Ruybal, and Broox Crain. She was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren, Hunter Golden, Corben French, Chloe French, Cayden Shaw, Cole Golden, Landon Ruybal, Connor French, Carter Shaw, Joshua French, Caleb French, and Vanessa French.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be grandsons Ryan French, Chad French, Justin Shaw, Michael Golden, Hunter Golden, Corben French, and Paul Ruybal.
Honorary pallbearers will be all other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to all of those who took loving care of her in her final days. An extra special thanks to the staff of Promise Hospital for the extraordinary care they provided.
