Services celebrating the life of Dorothy Dean Richardson will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel, with Rev. David Rice presiding. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 to 11:00 before the service in the chapel. A prior visitation was held on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Chapman's Funeral Home in Eufaula, Alabama.
Dorothy Dean Richardson of Eufaula, Alabama passed away at her home lovingly surrounded by family and faithful caregivers after a graceful battle with Dementia on December 17, 2022. Mrs. Richardson was born in Winfield, Texas to William Nelson Mays and Alma Lorene Pilgrim Mays on April 26, 1931. Later she was also the step daughter to Dorothy Mays Bertrand. Mrs. Richardson was a 1948 graduate of Summerfield High School and retired from AT&T. Mrs. Richardson enjoyed traveling, golfing, reading, crocheting and loved her pets. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren who referred to her as "Memaw". Church was important to her as she was always actively serving her Lord and Savior. She lived most of her life in Louisiana but lived the last 26 years in Alabama living close to her daughter and family.
Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Charles Ray Richardson, her sister Joyce Teat and step son Michael Richardson. Mrs. Richardson will be greatly missed by her loving family. She is survived by her children; Roddy Puckett of Ashland City, TN, Bruce (Judy) Puckett of Haughton, LA, Karen (Gary) White of Eufaula, AL, sisters; Jean (Jim) Sherrill, Marsha (Al) Barrera, grandchildren; Roddy Bryan Puckett, Jamie (Crystal) Puckett, Spencer (Emily) White, Geoffrey Dean White, Brandi Lowery and Brittany (Frank) Emes, step daughters; Susan (Randy) Smith and Charlie Ann Forshee.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Kindred Hospice for their care. Also an extra special thank you to her caregivers who loved and cared for her as their own; Kristy Howerton, Angela Turner and Patty Neal.
