The Woodlands, TX – Dori Stentz Stanley passed away at home early in the morning of Saturday, June 12, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. Mrs. Stanley was born in Shreveport, LA, and lived with her husband of 62 years at various times in Shreveport, Stonewall, Monroe, and Baton Rouge, LA, and for the last 25 years in The Woodlands, TX.
Mrs. Stanley is survived by her husband, John Wrae Stanley. Survivors also include John W. Stanley Jr. and his wife Katja of Bonn, Germany, Curtis Michael Stanley and his wife Adrienne of Ponchatoula, LA, and Sheri Stanley Phelps, also of The Woodlands, TX. Mrs. Stanley was known as Meme to her grandchildren, Garrett Stanley and his wife Ashlee of Baton Rouge, LA, Colin Weynand of Idaho Springs, CO, Mason Stanley of Chicago, IL, Connor Phelps of The Woodlands, TX, and Kyra and Taylor Stanley of Bonn, Germany.
Visitation for Mrs. Stanley will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home in Haughton, LA on Monday, June 21st at 1:30 PM, with her funeral at 2:30 PM, and burial to follow, with nephew, Scott Stentz presiding.
Arrangements for a local memorial reception in The Woodlands will be announced in coming weeks, in appreciation of the tremendous outpouring of love and support Mrs. Stanley and the Stanley family received during her illness.
Dori will be remembered by family and friends as a vibrant, outgoing lady who had a special passion for art and a deep love for young children. Due to her affection for children, the family requests – in lieu of flowers – donations in her name be made to the program of your choice in service of children.
