Funeral services for Don Richard “D.R.” Logan, 73, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. Gilbert Reese and Charlie Kerr will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2011 at the Hill Crest Funeral Home.
Don passed away December 22, 2011 in Bossier City, LA after becoming ill in July. Starting his career in 1957, Don’s generosity and giving spirit was acknowledged many times by employees and business associates alike. He was a builder and developer in the Bossier Parish area. He developed the Dogwood Sub Division, and was owner of D & B Management Co., East Highland Mobile Home Park # 1 and #2, Highland Utilities Corp, and Bolinger Lumber. He built many homes in the Central Park area, and Shady Grove area of Bossier City and housing for the military at Fort Polk. Don was a member of the Homebuilders Association, and a Board Member of Bank of the Mid-South.
Don’s last business venture came to fruition on December 21, 2011, that being the sale of Red Chute Utilities to parish of Bossier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Durwood Logan and Hazel Crow Logan.
Don is survived by his two loving daughters; Debbie Logan Gold, LaDon Logan Wheeler; three grandchildren, Logan Caroline Gold, Anna Carol Wheeler, and Brian Evan Wheeler; and the mother of his children, Carolyn Fowler Logan. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Barnett; and brother, Bruce Logan.
Pallbearers will be Dick DeMoss, Ted Cook, David Jones, Ronnie Payne, Dub Hendrix, Randall King, Johnny Crowe and John McClure.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the management team of D & B Management Company, and Dr. Alan Borne. Also a special thanks to Lena Mae Lars, our family friend since Don was a young boy.
