Daniel Culpepper Scarborough IV, 67, was a member of a pioneer Northwest Louisiana family. Danny died October 15, 2013 of a brain tumor. Visitation will be Friday, October 18, 2013 in Bain Hall at First United Methodist Church beginning at 10 a.m. The service will follow at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary with Dr. Pat Day officiating. Interment will be at Forest Park East.
Danny graduated from Byrd High School. He attended Marion Military Institute, Louisiana State University, and graduated from Northwestern State University where he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army. He served his country with honor and courage during the Vietnam conflict and remained in the United States Army Reserves, attaining the rank of Major before his retirement.
Danny was a 4th generation member of the First United Methodist Church, where he sang in the Chancel Choir for over 40 years. He was a long standing member of the Downtown YMCA, regularly seen jogging four miles early mornings on the Clyde Fant Parkway. Danny was a practicing lawyer and a member of the Shreveport and Louisiana State Bar Associations.
Danny is survived by three daughters: Margaret Thompson, and her husband Michael of Arlington, VA; Sarah Frances Scarborough of Dallas; and Anne Scarborough of New Orleans; one grandson, Joe Thompson; two sisters, Margaret Eckel of Denver and Merrill Fallis of Tampa; special friend, Marion O’Rear; as well as a large and caring extended family.
The Family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Sanford Katz and Dr. Gary Burton, Feist-Weiller Cancer Center, and The Glen. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to be made to the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center.
