Services to celebrate the life of Curtis J. Schluter will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 15, 2023 at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel with internment to follow. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00 am.
Curt was born in Cass Lake, Minnesota on October 17, 1936. He joined the Air Force in Minneapolis, MN in 1957. Shortly after, he relocated to Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, LA. Curt was a member of the Bomb Navigation Systems Specialists team for B-47s and B-52s as well as a member of the Strategic Air Command. During his early years at Barksdale, he and his friends enjoyed time off at the N.C.O. Club where he eventually met Margie Remedies and later married in 1959. Curt was a telephone engineer for BellSouth and his career spanned 33 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, where he eventually gained membership as a Shriner, as well as a member of the Leech Lake Ojibwe Tribe. Curt was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He looked forward to frying fish every Saturday night with family and friends, especially Howard Mitchell, for over 35 years. He enjoyed listening to country music, spending time with his family and cheering on his grandkids at numerous events over the years.
Curt is preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Boyd and Netta Schluter, and mother, Edythe Hoefling. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margie Schluter, daughter Regina Redstone and husband Robert, grandchildren, Carol Cash, Kayleigh Cash and Elliot Redstone, brother, Nick Schluter and wife, Peggy, sisters, Edie Mae Berg and Julie Miller and husband, Burt.
The family would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Anil Veluvolu for his dedication and the excellent care of Curt. Additionally, the family would like to thank Curt’s various caregivers at The Blake.
