Cullen B. Keith, Jr.

HAUGHTON, LA - Services to honor the life of Cullen Bryant Keith, Jr, 84, will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, August 14, 2015, at First Baptist Church Haughton; officiated by Dr. Gevan Spinney. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday evening also at First Baptist Church Haughton.

Cullen was born in Bellevue, LA on September 20, 1930, to parents Cullen Bryant Keith, Sr and Annie Mae Nix Keith, and passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Cullen is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter who died at birth, Susan Mae Keith. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Klug Keith; four sons, Bryant (Bo) and wife Tina, Mike and wife Jo Anne, John and wife Vanessa, Tim and wife Kim; brother James (Bo) Keith and wife Eloise; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and a multitude of loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Cullen proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War. He participated in the Inchon Landing and was recipient of the Purple Heart while fighting the Battle of Chosin Reservoir “Frozen Chosin”.

Cullen was a lifelong resident of the Haughton area, serving the public for over 35 years as Justice of the Peace, Constable, and Notary and he was a founding member of the Bossier Parish Sheriff Posse. Cullen (C.B. as his co-workers called him) retired from the Cotton Belt railroad in 1991 after 38 years.

Cullen loved to tell people about Jesus and invite them to his church. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Haughton, where he served faithfully for many years as a Deacon and Sunday School Director. He loved his church family, especially his Men’s #1 Sunday School class and the Tuesday morning men’s prayer group. As a long-time Gideon, Cullen distributed bibles to a host of local schools, hotels, prisons, and other facilities. He also served his Lord on the mission field both in the US and internationally.

Pallbearers are Joey Keith, David Keith, Johnny Keith, Jerod Keith, Greg Keith, Jeremy Botica, Joe Murphy, Scott Boswell Honorary Pallbearers are Benjamin Keith, Chase Keith, Jacob Keith, Christian Keith, Hudson Keith, FBC Haughton Deacons, FBC Haughton Mens #1 Sunday School Class and Tuesday morning men’s prayer group.

The Keith family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ted Warren and the caring staff at the Promise Hospital of Bossier and Grace Home.
