Born on February 16, 1948, in the town of Baskin, Louisiana, Chester's remarkable journey was a testament to his extraordinary bravery, selflessness, and dedication to God, family, and his beloved country. He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Brewster Sr., mother, Marie Brewster, brother, Philip Brewster, and is survived by his wife, Deborah Brewster, sons Aaron Brewster and his wife Jennifer, and Randall Brewster, four grandchildren Alayna, Jackson, Logan, and Joey, numerous nephews, as well as sisters and brothers-in-law.
In 1968, Chester heeded the call of duty and answered with great resolve, joining the ranks of the United States Army to serve his nation during the tumultuous Vietnam War. He faced the trials of battle with unwavering courage, displaying exceptional acts of valor that earned him the esteemed Bronze Star. Throughout his military service, Chester embodied the true spirit of a hero, exemplifying the highest ideals of patriotism and honor.
Following his honorable discharge in 1970, Chester embarked upon a new chapter, embracing his sense of duty and community by joining the Shreveport Fire Department, where he served with distinction for an admirable three decades. Just as he had done on the battlefield, Chester safeguarded lives and protected his community with unwavering commitment. Despite the physical challenges he encountered as a result of his service, his spirit burned brightly, inspiring all who had the privilege of knowing him.
At the core of Chester's life was his profound love and devotion to his beloved wife, Deborah Brewster. Together, they nurtured a bond built on unbreakable love, unwavering support, and shared dreams. Their journey was adorned with countless cherished moments, and their union became a steadfast source of strength for both. Their enduring love was a beacon of light that guided their family through every joy and challenge they encountered.
Chester's love extended far beyond the walls of his home, encompassing his deep faith and a strong sense of community. As a member of The Pentecostals of Bossier City, he found solace, guidance, and profound strength in his relationship with God. Chester's dedication to his faith permeated every aspect of his life, offering him unwavering hope and serenity. An avid student of God's word, he reveled in the transformative power of prayer and the divine teachings that guided his path. Additionally, Chester found solace and joy in the embrace of nature, relishing the tranquility of fishing and hunting. These cherished moments allowed him to connect with the beauty of creation and find respite from the demands of the world.
A service to honor and celebrate the remarkable life of Chester Leon Brewster Jr. will be held at Hill Crest Funeral Home on June 15th, 2023, at 1:00 pm. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Chester are warmly invited to gather and partake in the remembrance of a life well-lived. Pallbearers, thoughtfully chosen including Aaron Brewster, Randall Brewster, Logan Brewster, Evan Brewster, Joey Juneau, and Brad Smoak, will carry Chester to his final resting place with profound reverence and the utmost dignity befitting his character.
