Charles (Charlie) Ray Dyer, 64, of Haughton, LA, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, April 11, 2023 after a long illness. He was born on September 23, 1958, in Atlanta, Texas, to Charles Edward Dyer and Ann Riddick Parks.
Charlie was a loving husband, father, and son, who was known for his kind heart and his infectious smile. He enjoyed playing golf, watching NASCAR races, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and listening to classic rock music.
Charlie graduated from Northwood High School in 1976. He worked with his dad at their family owned business for several years before beginning a career in the casino industry, opening the Isle of Capri in 1994.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Cindy Dyer; a son, Kevin Dyer; daughter in law, Katie Dyer; mother, Ann Riddick Parks; stepmother, Marinelle Dyer; stepbrother, Bob Caro and wife Autumn; brothers in law, Joe Marez, Jr. and wife Kathy; Frank Marez; Tony Marez and wife Debbie, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Dyer; his aunt, June Riddick; his uncle, Rudolph Riddick; his stepfather, Dr. Leon Parks; mother in law, Olivia V. Packard; and father in law, Joe V. Marez, Sr.
Pallbearers honoring Charlie will be Jake Vance, Alex Ganey, Kyle Steed, Hagan Brandon, Michael Marez, and Steven Marez.
Funeral services will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home and Park in Haughton. Visitation will be Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and a Memorial Service to celebrate Charlie’s life on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 10:00 am with burial immediately following at Hill Crest.
