HAUGHTON, LA
Services to celebrate the life of Charles Wayne Boster will be held at Hill Crest Funeral Home on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 3:30 pm with pastors Mike Anderson and Johnnie Allen officiating. Visitation will be held at Hill Crest Funeral Home on Friday, July 16, 2010 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Interment will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Dixie Inn, LA at 5:30 pm.
Charles was a member of Haynes Avenue Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA. He was born in Providence, KY, and was a graduate of Athens State College, Athens, AL, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, TX. He served as minister of education and administration at various churches in Georgia, Illinois, and Texas. He also served as associate pastor of First Baptist Church, Center, TX, and as pastor of Lone Star Baptist Church in Center. A talented church administrator and religious educator, Charles fostered a passion for the people with whom he served in his community.
Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Sirten, and his parents, Spaulding Davis and Anna Belle Blades Boster. He is survived by his second wife, Penny Ambrose Boster; two sons, Scott (Mari) and Stephen (Sally) and one stepson, Scott (Rachel) Adams; thirteen grandchildren: Tiffany, Michael, Kimberly, Nicholas, Christopher, Matthew, Samantha, Jessica Boster of Antelope, CA; Joshua and Jack Boster of Kansas City, MO; Hannah, Sydney, and Zachary Adams of Shreveport, LA; brothers, Don Boster (Joanne), Madison, AL and Ken Boster (Mary), Hartselle, AL; sisters, Dorothy Knight (George), Smyrna, TN, Juanita Blair (Randy), Cullman, AL, Karen Nichols, Sheffield, AL, Shirley Hallman (Elvis), Hartselle, AL, and Terri Shelton (Ricky), Hayden, AL.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Charles’s honor may be made to the American Lung Association National Headquarters, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Suite 800, Washington DC 20004.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and nurses at Willis Knighton Hospital and Promise Hospital for their kindness and care to Charles and the family during these past months.
Pallbearers will be members of the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Auxiliary Unit.
