Carlyn Jeanette Ford Jackson went to be with her Lord and Savior on Good Friday, April 22, 2011 at 80 years of age, after suffering two strokes in 2009. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the chapel at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home in Haughton, LA. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Carlyn Jackson was born October 15, 1930 in Springfield, GA. She lived all over the United States, including Alaska, due to her husband’s military career and has been a resident of Bossier City since 1975.
Carlyn was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grand and great grandmother who was always there for everyone, whether they were family or friend. She put everyone before herself and was well liked by those that met her.
Carlyn graduated from Effingham Academy as Salutatorian of her high school graduating class. She attended Draughon’s College and retired in the 1980’s. She was an avid gardener, wonderful cook, great bowler, collector, and loved to sew. She loved spending time with her family and going places with her dear friend, Marguerite Hoppaugh, Gracie Long and Ruth Taffi. As a member of the Bossier Council on Aging, she competed in the Senior Olympics for several years and she and her team won several medals.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle Ford, her father Edward P. Ford, her sister Nelia Weeks, and her brother Edward Palmer Ford.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jack D. Jackson; their four daughters, Judy and husband David Allen of Columbia, SC, Wanda Allen of Bossier City, Bonnie Bradley of Bossier City, and Sandra Wills of Hernando, MS; her sister Ann and husband Arnold Sims of Pooler, GA; her grandchildren Eric, Michael, Jeanette and Rebecca Allen, Shoshoni and husband John Rodgers, Jeremy Bradley, Jennifer and husband Ian Rohde, and Candace and husband Chris Bovet, Zach and wife Amy Willis, Ben Wills, and Cheyenne Wills; and her great grandchildren Pak Mia, Kyle, Shelby, Kira, Tara, Annabelle and Emily.
Pallbearers will be Zach and Ben Wills, Jeremy Bradley, Ian Rhode, Michael Allen and Ron Wills. Honorary pallbearers will be her brother-in-law Harvey Pruett, and good friends, Lawrence Manning, Frank Long and Ron Taffi.
The family wishes to thank the many friends and neighbors who provided support, Agape Hospice Group, especially Lisa, Elaine, Larry and Jennifer for the loving and Christian care they provided, Aseracare and Synergy Home Health.
She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
