A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Phillips is scheduled for 2 PM, Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, Haughton, LA with interment to follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. His son, Rev. Michael Phillips will serve as officiant for the service with Dr. Gary Johnson from Waller Baptist Church assisting. The family will welcome friends from 1 PM to 2PM the day of the service at the funeral home.
Ira H. and Mary Ann Furguson Phillips welcomed their precious Bobby Wayne into this world on September 26, 1932 in the small town of Ambrose, GA. He served his country well, retiring from the Air Force after 23 years and then retiring a second time from the Post Office after 20 more. While Bobby was very proud of his service, that pride paled in comparison to the gratification he felt investing in the lives of his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a faithful friend to many. Most importantly, he was a faithful servant to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He sought to better those around him and served as a deacon and trustee at Waller Baptist Church. God called his servant home on Friday, November 10, 2017 at the age of 85.
Preceding Mr. Phillips in death are his parents and one brother James R. Phillips. Left to cherish his memory are his dear wife of 62 years, Shirley Ann Davis Phillips; son, Rev. Michael W. Phillips (Lisa); daughter, Gail L. Boddie (Tom); sister, Jean Carver (Harry); and grandchildren, Abigail, Sarah and Matthew Phillips.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made in his honor to Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, 7200 Desiard Street, Monroe, LA 71203 or www.lbch.org.
