She was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on December 7, 1934. As a child, she lived in Washington, California, Oregon and Texas. She met her soon to be husband in Louisiana. She raised her family in Shreveport, Louisiana. She spent her final years in Lafitte, Louisiana.
She was a beloved wife and devoted mother of 12 children. She was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Betty and her husband Melvin owned and operated a neighborhood store called Pay and Save Grocery. After her retirement, she also served on the board at Northwest Developmental Center and HAP House. She was always generous with her time being a mother figure to not only her children, but also her church members, neighbors and store customers. She was also an advocate and mother figure for the disabled population.
Betty enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and crocheting in her spare time. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends. What she enjoyed the most was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty was known for her laughter, quick wit, kindness and love.
