Betty Lou McDaniel Benoit, age 82, of Haughton, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023. She was born on October 25, 1941 in Hickory, North Carolina to the late Charlie and Mary Lou McDaniel. Betty loved serving her country, first as an Airman in the United States Air Force, and later as a devoted military wife to her husband, AJ Benoit, and an active member of the NCO Wives Club. She cherished her children and loved being “Granny” to her grandchildren. Betty had an endearing sense of humor and loved comedy. She treasured her pets, listening to music, reading, and watching "Mr. Bean".
Betty is preceded in passing by one son Charles Kyle Benoit; her parents; and one sister Jean McDaniel Fincannon Funderburke.
She is survived by her beloved husband of sixty years AJ Benoit; three children: son Kevin Benoit, daughter Denise Gilbert and husband Shawn, daughter Celeste Schuler and husband Carl; five grandchildren: Kimberly Edington and husband Jason, Victoria Schuler, Jacob Schuler, Angelica Schuler, and Caitlin Gilbert; two great-grandchildren: Kristopher and Kinley Edington, along with many extended family members and friends.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the team at Willis-Knighton Pierremont, the staff of Pilgrim Manor, and family and friends, for their comforting care and continuous prayers.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 4, 2023 at 9:00 AM followed by a Memorial service celebrating Betty’s life at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037.
Entombment will immediately follow on the grounds of Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037.
