Services will be held to celebrate the life of Audrey Murphy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. until service time.
Audrey was born on April 6, 1923 in Haughton, LA and passed away peacefully on June 9, 2022. She was a lifelong resident of Bossier Parish and a longtime member of Waller Baptist Church. A few years after graduating from Haughton High School, where she played basketball, she met and married Valon (Pat) Murphy, who preceded her in death. Audrey worked at the Big Chain Cafeterias in both Shreveport and Bossier, and eventually retired from there after more than 30 years. Audrey liked to cook, but most of all she loved being outdoors and doing all sorts of outdoor activities, whether it be gardening, planting flowers, or even yard work.
Audrey was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Janell and her husband Doug; her son Dennis and his wife Kim; three grandsons, Geoff, Craig, and Kris along with their spouses Sarah, Kristen and Suzanne; three great-grandsons, Cambell, Clint, and James; three great-granddaughters, Kyleigh, Vivian, and Audrey; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Doug Westmoreland, Geoff Westmoreland, Kris Murphy, Craig Westmoreland, Cambell Westmoreland, and Clint Westmoreland.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Mae and Linda for the care and company they provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local Hospice organization or to a favorite charity in her honor.
