Amanda "Aunt Kay" Burleson (née Moss), age 70, passed away on July 20, 2024, in Princeton, Louisiana. Born on March 17, 1954, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, Amanda was a beloved figure in her community and cherished by her family.
A graduate of Provencal High School, Amanda dedicated many years of service as a secretary at Greenwood Baptist Church and as a bookkeeper. Her deep love for animals mirrored her compassionate nature, and her hobbies included crafting, sewing, reading, and traveling, which brought joy not only to her but also to those around her.
Amanda is survived by her sister, Connie Brister; brothers, Johnny McElfresh and Robert Moss; sister-in-law, Loretta Knechtges; nieces, Jessica McCain, Tracey Calcote, Patti Lundi, Marie Knechtges, Heather Gallien, Katelyn Brian and Ginger McElfresh; and nephews, Jeff, Justin, Joshua and Derek Brister. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Burleson; parents, Herman and Hazel Moss; and sister, Joyce Brister.
Services will be held at 3:00 pm Hill Crest Memorial Park in Haughton, Louisiana. Visitation will begin prior to service at 2:00 p.m. in the stateroom of Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any local animal shelter in Amanda's memory, honoring her love for animals.
