Funeral Services for Allen Bradford Whetstone Jr., 74, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel, with Richard Mosher officiating. Burial will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2011 at the Hill Crest Funeral Home.
Mr. Whetstone entered into rest on February 26, 2011 in Shreveport, LA. He was a long-time resident of Bossier City, LA. Mr. Whetstone was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #2239 in Shreveport. He was a certified diesel mechanic and automotive specialist working at United Engines in Shreveport and Red River Chevrolet in Bossier City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gaming at the local establishments. He served honorably in the Marine Corps for five years, and after reenlisting, was injured during the Korean War and received a medical discharge.
He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Vincent Lee Whetstone; father, Allen Whetstone Sr.; mother, Laura Alberta Whetstone; and sister, Jane Gloria Kling.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Whetstone of Bossier City; daughter, Laura Marie Schmidt of Illinois; sons, Paul Allen Whetstone of Texas and Andrew Gerald Whetstone of Mississippi; brother, Jerry Whetstone of North Carolina; sister, Noreene Morgan Bays of Kentucky; nephews, Scott Whetstone of Florida, Richard Whetstone of North Carolina, and Morgan J. Morgan of Kentucky; and niece, Jane Whetstone of North Carolina. Allen was a proud grandfather of nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter and numerous great nieces and nephews.
