Alice Ruth Harrell

On Sunday, August 6, 2023, Alice Ruth Spence Harrell peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 12th at 11:00 AM, at Airline Baptist Church in Bossier City, LA, where she was a member for 39 years. Pastor Harrell Shelton and Pastor Terry Young will be officiating Ruth’s celebration of life service. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until service time. A burial will follow at 2:30 PM on the grounds of Elderville Cemetery, Longview, TX, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Travis L. Harrell.

Her husband and parents, Volley W. and Blonnie Ruth Beck Spence; her brothers: Mack Spence (Carolyn), Don Spence; her brother-in-law, James Ray Harrell (Doris), and her in-laws, along with many friends and family members preceded her in death.

Born December 17, 1928, in Monroe, TX, Ruth lived a full and healthy life up until the past several months.

Ruth was a homemaker who, along with Travis, raised four sons. She would argue with anyone who did not believe that it was a full-time job to be a stay-at-home mom.

Surviving Ruth are her four sons: Ronald (Bonnie) Harrell, Clayton (Lisa) Harrell, Larry (Heidi) Harrell, and David (Cindy) Harrell. Also surviving her are her grandchildren: Clayton Harrell, Jr, (Molly), Ashley Harrell Minish (Jay), Whitney Harrell Withem (A.J.), Meagan Harrell Utmelidze (Tommy), Austin Harrell (Haley), and Ty Harrell.

“Grandmother” was most proud of her great grandchildren: Cami, Lane, Reed, and Harper Ruth Harrell, William and Wyatt Minish, Hazel Withem, Luka and Anya Utmelidze, and Travis David Harrell. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.

Honoring Ruth as pallbearers are Clayton Harrell, Jr., Jay Minish, A.J. Withem, Tommy Utmelidze, Austin Harrell and Ty Harrell.
