William Baugher Kyger Sr.

William Baugher Kyger, Sr. 82, of Port Republic passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Sentara-RMH Medical Center. He was born in Rockingham County on August 22, 1933 and was the son of the late William Franklin and Elizabeth Baugher Kyger. Billy graduated from Montevideo High School and Echels Mortuary College in Philadelphia, PA. He was employed with Lindsey Funeral Home for 26 ½ years and with Rockingham Memorial Hospital for 33 years. He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church; past President of Bridgewater-Dayton Jaycees; Bridgewater Rotary Club; he was co-founder and 1st President of Bridgewater Rescue Squad; Past Vice Mayor in Shenandoah; and former member of B.P.O.E. #450 and also Weyers Cave Fire Department. He loved and enjoyed his pets, dogs, ponies and cats. He is survived by his wife, Sharon E. Kyger of Port Republic; two sons, Billy Kyger, Jr. and wife, Maggie of Bridgewater; Patrick M. Kyger of Port Republic; two daughters, Beth Pence and husband, Steve, of Shenandoah; Jenny Heatwole and husband, Jeff, of Bridgewater; grandchildren, Katie Frazier, Meg Druga, Riley and Wesley Kyger, Becky Campbell, Zach Pence, Dylan and Brett Heatwole; great-grandchildren, Palmer Frazier and Elizabeth Grace Druga. The family will receive friends 6-8:00 pm, Friday, August 28, 2015 at the home of his son, Billy, 6710 Vista Heights Rd., Bridgewater. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Rev. John Senters officiating. Private burial at Port Republic Community Cemetery.
