On May 2, 2023, Wanda Mae (England) Beard passed away peacefully at home at 67 years old.
Although born in London, Kentucky, Wanda grew up in Key West. She loved lighthouses and the beach. She met her son’s father (now deceased) in Key West and moved all over the country to finally settle in Virginia. She worked as a legal secretary for decades and loved organization and socializing. In retirement, she worked at the Massanutten Homeowners Association part-time to continue socializing and enjoy office work. Anyone who knew Wanda loved her smile and sense of humor. Her faith and willingness to help others made her a strong and loveable person.
Wanda is survived by her son John Beard and his wife, Michelle Cooke.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg on Saturday, May 20th at 2:00 pm.
