Virginia Ann Wassum

She was born January 15, 1931 in Charlotte, NC and was the daughter of the late Dewey and Virginia Kite Tilson.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of Wayland Women’s Club, DAR and Harrisonburg Women’s Club. Virginia was an avid reader, loved to play Bridge and was better known as a great cook.

On June 12, 1954 she married Glen Carlton Wassum, Sr. who preceded her in death, February 25, 2012.

Virginia is survived by her two children, Cece Altomonte and her husband, Nino, of Waynesboro, VA, and Glen Carlton Wassum, Jr. of Bridgewater; two grandsons, Daniel Altomonte and Phillip Altomonte; a sister, Sally Carter and her husband, Alvin of Lexington, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Sumner Tilson, Jr.

The family will receive friends, 7:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 Eastlawn Memorial Gardens with Dr. John F. Sloop officiating.
