
He was born on December 12, 1951 in Anua, Nigeria, West Africa and was the son of the late Rev. Theodore Pelikan and Betty Ann Prok Pelikan.
Ted graduated from Proviso East High School in Maywood, Illinois and also graduated with highest distinction in Ornamental Nursery Management from Pennsylvania State University College of Agriculture, University Park, PA.
During his career Ted worked behind the scenes and took pride in the beautification and maintenance of athletic fields, grounds and parks at Gettysburg College, Virginia Commonwealth University, James Madison University and Harrisonburg City. He was an active member of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church and served as a council member for many years.
On August 10, 1974, he married the former Debra Sullivan, who survives.
Also surviving are two children, his daughter, Kimberly Gervais and husband, Thomas, of Manlius, NY, his son, Lukas Pelikan and wife, Ashley, Leesburg, VA; two grandchildren, Eviana and Paul Gervais; sisters, Anne Dudley and husband, Alan, of Ardentsville, PA., Lynne Van Sluyters and husband, Ron, of Oronoco, MN, Ruth Vinson and husband, Dave, of North Ridgeville, OH, and Sylvia Bly and husband, Roger, of Cleveland, OH.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, on June 27, 2015 at Muhlenberg Lutheran Church with Pastor Bob Humphrey and Pastor Brett Davis will be officiating.
