Obituary of Phyllis Jean (Price) Joseph
Phyllis Jean Price Joseph, 91, a lifelong resident of the Hinton area, passed away on Monday evening, October 16, 2023 at her home. She was born on August 11, 1932 in Harrisonburg and was the daughter of the late James T. and Lacy V. Gentry Price. Mrs. Joseph attended Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene. She was employed as a custodian for Harrisonburg First Presbyterian Church for a number of years; and worked in housekeeping at JMU for 15 years and at Rockingham Memorial Hospital for 20 plus years. She loved flowers, shopping with her daughters and trips to Myrtle Beach and spending time with her grandchildren. On November 10, 1948, she married William “Bill” Wallace Joseph, who preceded her in death on August 21, 2011. She is survived by two daughters, Peggy A. Kile and husband, Tommy, and Shelly “Diane” Wisman and husband, Kenneth, all of Hinton; two nephews who were raised as sons in their home, Ronald L. “Ronnie” Joseph and wife, Tammy, of Elkton and Douglas W. Joseph and wife, Sandra, of Dayton; nine grandchildren; Charles “Doodle” Harman, Jacqueline “Jackie" Moyers, Timothy Kile, Jeremy Wisman, Jason Wisman, Justin Wisman, Jacob Wisman, Joshua Joseph and Sarah Joseph; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rachel Derrow of New Market. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jackie Wayne Joseph and Wendell “Ricky” Winston Joseph; a great-grandson, Shane Moyers; and a brother, Bobby Price. The family will receive friends 7:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, October 20, 2023 at the funeral home with Pastor Joseph Stoner officiating. Burial will be in Weavers Church Cemetery.
