

She was born on February 22, 1923 in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Wilmer G. and Ella Pearl Smith Fries.
Naomi was a graduate of Linville-Edom High School and lived all of her life in the Shenandoah Valley. She was employed with the Harrisonburg Telephone Company during 1940’s and retired from Hughes Pharmacy as bookkeeper. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and was very active in the Adult Sunday School Class. She was past president and officer of the Sherwood Garden Club, she enjoyed judging Horticulture and Floral Arrangements for Rockingham County fair and other garden clubs, and she was also a former member of the Lakeview Ladies Golf Club.
Naomi was an avid seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her daughters and Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. The family will especially miss her gift of a birthday pie.
On June 8, 1946 she married Charles W. “Bill” Rhodes, who preceded her in death on February 28, 2008.
She is survived by her daughters, Pam Moyers and husband, Eugene, of Harrisonburg, Sherry Butler and husband, Sam, of Broadway, Roxanne Rhodes of Harrisonburg; grandchildren, Sarah Stallard and husband, Mark, of Harrisonburg, Ryan Moyers and wife, Sarah, of Anchorage, AK, Adam Moyers and wife, Leigh, of Alexandria, Mark Moyers of York, PA, Alison Banks and husband, Con and Topp Butler, all of Harrisonburg; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Claire Stallard, Kyle Banks, and Georgia Moyers; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family of five siblings.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm, Friday, February 27, 2015 at Otterbein United Methodist Church with Rev. Adam Blagg officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-2:45 pm prior to the service or may call at their residences at any time. Private burial will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens earlier in the day.
