Obituary of Margaret Brock Wilson
Mrs. Margaret Brock Wilson, 91, a lifetime resident of Harrisonburg, died peacefully on July 2, 2015, in the loving embrace of her family. She was born on January 24, 1924 in her family's residence on Grattan Street. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Charles Moore Brock and Mrs. Maggie Lee Walker Brock. A sister, Eleanor Brock Carter, predeceased her and a brother, Charles Moore Brock, Jr. of Broad Run, Virginia, survives. She graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1941 and from Madison College in 1945. On June 7, 1950, she married The Honorable Thomas J. Wilson III who predeceased her and went to his just reward on January 23, 1994. Her’s was a gracious life filled with humor and wit, wonderful friends, enjoyable ordinary days and wonderful special occasions. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, the Massanutten Chapter of the DAR, the original RMH Hospice program, the Altar Guild and once affiliated with the Greenwood and Spotswood Garden Clubs. She enjoyed movies at her family’s Virginia Theatre, bridge, book club, tennis and bittersweet in the fall. She loved a Maker’s Mark, a Jesse’s dog, a Kline’s ice cream and a glass of champagne, in no particular order. She said her greatest honor was being a mother to her son Thomas J. Wilson IV of Harrisonburg, and her three daughters, Rebecca Lee Wilson of Harrisonburg, Carter Wilson Hailey of Alexandria, and Leslie Wilson Pepper of Edmond, Oklahoma. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Blair Elizabeth Pepper, Reid Thomas Pepper, Ann Claiborne Pepper all of Edmond, Oklahoma, John Claiborne Wilson of Charlottesville and Madison Lee Wilson of Harrisonburg. As well, she is survived by a daughter-in-law, Kerri M. Wilson and two sons-in-law, David E. Pepper and Mitchell S. Hailey, along with many wonderful and caring nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a God daughter, Vann Lowry Brock of Fredericksburg. A lifelong Episcopalian, the Rite of the Burial of the Dead will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, July 10, 2015 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Father Daniel Robayo officiating, with interment at Woodbine Cemetery immediately following. The family will receive friends at the residence, anytime. The family wishes to thank Olga Lara, GC Duck, and Michael Marston for all their loving caregiving of our mother. In lieu of flowers, should memorial gifts be considered, the family requests they be made to the Thomas James Wilson, III 1942 Memorial Scholarship, Virginia Military Institute, P.O.
