A daughter of the late John and Thelma Spruill Smith, she was born on February 9, 1945 in Washington, DC.
Linda graduated from Suitland High School in Maryland and had attended the University of Valley Forge.
She enjoyed a career as a child caregiver for many years and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Harrisonburg.
On June 7, 1969, she married David W. Brookman, who survives. Also surviving are a son, William David “Billy” Brookman, of Syracuse, NY; two granddaughters, Amanda Brookman and Samantha Brookman; four sisters, Jonnie Lou Martin, of Thomasville GA, Susie Best of Waldorf, MD, Martha Bell, of Morgantown, WV and Catherine Wohltmann, of Pottstown, PA.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Steven Smith.
Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated and there will be no public viewing at the funeral home.
A Celebration of Life service for Linda will be held 1 pm, Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Dayspring Church of the Nazarene, 235 Main Street, Mt. Crawford, Virginia, with Pastor Doug Wade, Assistant Pastor Rob Gilmer and Guest Speaker, Carolyn Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dayspring Church of the Nazarene, 235 South Main Street, Mt. Crawford, Virginia, 22841, in her memory.
