He was born August 16, 1968 and was the son of Martin Earman Lam and Juanita Moubray Lam of Elkton, and the late Kenneth Wayne Shifflett.
Marty was a lifelong resident of Elkton, graduating from Spotswood High School in 1986. On November 21, 1987 he married Teresa Cash Shifflett, who survives.
Marty volunteered for the Elkton Fire Department for five years. His most recent employment was with White Wave Foods in Mt. Crawford where he was a maintenance coordinator. He was a minister and Sunday school teacher at Grace Fellowship Church in Shenandoah.
He is survived by his wife, mother, and three sons, Seth Shifflett and wife, Tiffany, and Caleb and Ethan Shifflett, all of Elkton; a daughter, Christal Smith and fiancé, Joseph McLaughlin, of Harrisonburg; a grandson, Mason Bentley Shifflett of Elkton; two sisters Lori Lam of Grottoes, and Ashley Lam and fiancé, Terence Taylor of Elkton; four brothers, Kevin Shifflett and wife, Leslie, and Ryan Lam, all of Elkton, Todd and David Lam both of Waynesboro; a grandmother, Edith Moubray of Elkton and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
Pastor Wayne Comer will conduct a funeral service at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Grace Fellowship Church in Shenandoah.
