George Gus Floros, 50, a resident of Harrisonburg passed away at Sentara-RMH Medical Center on Monday, April 28, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.He is the son of Gus G. Floros of Harrisonburg and the late Eva Papaioannou Floros, and was born on August 30, 1963 in Harrisonburg.
George lived his entire life in Harrisonburg and was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Charlottesville. He graduated from Harrisonburg High School and Bridgewater College.
George had been employed with his father at Jess’ Lunch downtown, since he was twelve years old and became owner in 2006.
On December 1, 2001, in Greece, he married Angeliki G. Floros who survives.
In addition to his father and wife, he is survived by two sons, Constantinos G. Floros and Kostas G. Floros both of Harrisonburg; sister-in-law, Cynthia A. Floros of Harrisonburg; one niece, Brittany Wood; two nephews, Dalton Wood and John Kohl Floros.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Floros on June 6, 2001, and his brother, John G. Floros on June 29, 2006.
The family will receive friends 7-9:00 pm, Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the church with Father Peter Rexinis officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends are invited to stop by Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, on Wednesday, to view and sign the guest book.
Jess’ Lunch #1 and #2 will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. They will both reopen Friday, May 2, 2014. Active pallbearers will be, Savvaas G. Kostis, Dimitrios G. Kostis, Jim S. Kostis, Salvador Lopez, Jesus' Portillo and Robert S. Wynne.
