Doug or as his family called him Andrew, was part of the Occupy Wall Street riot in 2011 and was arrested with many others. He was extremely proud to be a part of that history and spoke of the experience often. He had a compassion for special needs children and started working for Merakey Autism and Education. He had a passion for sports, specifically the LA RAMS and LA Lakers. He was driven by music and listened to it every chance he had. He enjoyed the outdoors, floating down the river, playing chess, playing basketball at the park or spending time with his nieces. He also had a soft spot for animals and would have saved every one if he could. His smile, laughter and pranks will be missed by everyone who knew him and his memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who loved him.
Douglas is preceded in death by his father, Douglas Smith, and is survived by his mother Eileen Smith, grandmother, Joy Hoffmann, siblings, Sarah Ruth, Anastasia Rachel, Luke Joseph and Annabeth Joy, nieces, Jahzara, Myla, and Cali, nephew, Damian and his girlfriend, Brooke Linzy, and her son Damon.
