William J. Cordier, 88, of Harrisburg, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022, in Butler Senior Living, Penbrook. Born March 14, 1933, in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late William W. and Frances C. (O’Brien) Cordier, and was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Lynn Cordier.
William is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris M. Drexler, who he married May 1, 1954; his children, Stephen (Beverly Foote) of Boiling Springs, PA, Donald (Maureen Ryan) of Sugar Land, TX, Mary Louise Stoner (Jeffrey Stoner) of Harrisburg, PA, and Joseph (Susan Arthur) of Pittsburg, PA; 8 grandchildren, Matthew Cordier, Bradley Stoner, Jennifer Wright, Kathryn Kutz, Jacqueline Easterday, Christine Burton, Michelle Ricketts, and Nicole Cordier, and ten great grandchildren.
William retired as a construction foreman for Verizon and served in the U.S. Army reserves. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Alacoyte Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, 4th degree; telephone pioneers, Penbrook American Legion, Post 730, and a graduate of Muhlenberg High School, class of 1951.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 24, 2022, at 11:00 am, in his church. A viewing will be held from 10:00 am, until the time of service, in the church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery in Reading, PA.
