Shannon Russ Sholley, 80, of Harrisburg, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022, at UPMC Community Osteopathic. Born February 24, 1941, in Harrisburg; she was the daughter of the late William M. Russ, Jr. and Violet (Balbaugh) Russ. A 1959 graduate of William Penn High School, Shannon began her career as a medical secretary in the pathology department at Polyclinic Hospital. She transitioned into a position as a medical coder-abstractor with Community General Osteopathic Hospital, and eventually retired from Holy Spirit Hospital. The first things that come to mind when thinking of Shannon are her absolute love of children and her Christian faith. She was an incredible mother to her own children, nephew, grandchildren, and many others. Her love has profoundly affected so many. She was a faithful member of Living Water Community Church in Harrisburg. Shannon was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Sholley; and her daughter, Robin L. Mammola. She is survived by her son, Stephen A. Zeigler (Amy Bischof Zeigler) of Harrisburg; sister, Stephanie Householder of Harrisburg; nephew, Devin Householder (Maria Curci Householder), and a great-niece, Sydney Householder, of Rhode Island; son-in-law, Michael Mammola, and two grandsons, Michael and Andrew Mammola, of Harrisburg.
A viewing will take place at 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, January 25, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, at Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg. A private burial will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
