He was born August 6, 1932 in Lewistown; he was the son of the late Harry and Kathleen (Smith) Stafford; and preceded in death by his brother, Robert D. Stafford.
Ron graduated from Central Penn Business School, was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of the Korean War and retired from Daily Express, Carlisle.
He was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, Lawnton American Legion Post 998 and the Harrisburg Hunters and Anglers Club.
Ron was a Boy Scout Troop Leader for Troop 301 and an assistant Troup Leader for Troop 42, he mentored and encouraged boys to become a Boy Scout.
Ron loved woodworking, gardening and especially spending time at his Mountain Retreat with family, and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Stafford; two daughters, Andrea R. Laudermilch (Thomas), of Harrisburg and Corrine M. Wright (Dennis), of Limerick; three sons, Walter R. Stafford, of Harrisburg, Brian K. Stafford, of Trinity, NC and Robert F. Stafford (Lora), of Williamsburg, VA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Evans, of Twinsburg, OH; and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, September 14, 2017 at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg. Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Ft. Indiantown Gap, with military honors. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM Thursday to the time of the service at the church.
A Celebration of Life will follow immediately after the mass in Leo Hall at St. Catherine's.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg, PA 17111.
