Born in Tower City, PA, Bob was the son of the late Wilbur and Daisie (Schumber) Reiner.
Bob served in the United States Air Force as a Motor Vehicle Body Repairman and MP. As an Airman First Class he earned the National Defense Service Medal and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He was stationed in various locations in the United States, but Alaska was, by far, his favorite. He enjoyed sharing many stories of the adventures he had while serving his country.
Bob was a long-time employee of Sutliff Chevrolet in Harrisburg, working in the body shop for 36 years. He was one of the first body shop technicians to be certified on fiberglass repair for Corvette bodies. He was a staunch supporter of Chevy products, proudly owning numerous models throughout his life. After retiring from Sutliff, Bob worked with Mione Family Remodeling as a laborer.
Many things brought Bob joy throughout his life, foremost of which was his family. “Pap” cherished many hours playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spoiling them with love and attention, and sometimes food and toys despite any potential objections from their parents. Bob also enjoyed card games, coin collecting, woodworking, reading and annual trips to camp in New York state.
Bob had a reputation as a jokester. Many family members recollect being on the receiving end of one (or more) of his antics. The aides at Country Meadows also enjoyed his gentle teasing and everyone was fair game. They also knew how to tease him in return and he loved every minute of this.
Bob is survived by and remembered fondly by his children Ronald, Delight, Deanna; grandchildren Erika, Justina, Benjamin, Ashley; several great-grandchildren; and his brothers Wilbur and Ray.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty (Wiest); son Robert “Bobby” Jr. and grandson Nate; sisters Joanne, MaryJane; and brother Harold.
Memorial contributions can be made to honor the loving care he received from the staff at Country Meadows by donating to The Country Meadows Co-Worker Foundation, 830 Cherry Drive, Hershey PA 17033.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for family and friends.
