Phyllis T. Thrush Newcomer-Hackman

Born November 16, 1912, in Lower Swatara Twp., she was daughter of the late Ralph L. Thrush, Sr. and Anna E. (Morrison) Thrush.

She was a devoted member of Centenary United Methodist Church since 1924.

Phyllis was retired as an executive secretary from the State Automobile Insurance Association and was former secretary for the Insurance Women of Harrisburg.

Surviving are her daughters, Marcia Newcomer and Leslie LaVia; 3 grandchildren, Kevin and Andrew LaVia, and Melanie Stine; a great-granddaughter, Alessandra Bible; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands and her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Bernard and Ralph Thrush and sisters, Hazel Ulrich, Inez Davis, Ione Miller, Pauline Witmer, and Hope Lindenberger.

A funeral service will be held Friday, April 24, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church, 1010 Orchard Road, Steelton, PA 17113 with Pastor Brian C. Sweeney officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment at Rolling Green Cemetery will follow the service.
