Peter Michael Abell, 57, of Harrisburg, formerly of Hatboro, PA and Somerset, NJ, died on July 27 at his home, Grayson View Personal Care Community. Peter graduated from Montgomery County Community College, and worked for 20 years in bookkeeping for McNeil Laboratories and Johnson & Johnson. Peter had been a volunteer for Theater Harrisburg and for Whitaker Center. He graduated from the PEER program, and served as a resident advocate at Grayson View. Peter lived his life with courage and zest. He enjoyed the performing arts, Phillies games, the beach at Avalon, NJ, restaurants, movies, and playing Scrabble. He especially enjoyed family gatherings, and he was greatly loved by his family and friends.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Claire Abell, and by his nephew, Brian Abell. Surviving are his siblings, Barbara Sariano and husband Jack, Richard Abell and wife Maryellen, Kathleen Rinaldi and husband Robert, Mary O’Connell and husband Dan, and Timothy Abell and wife Peggy, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 4000 Derry St., Harrisburg, at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 1. Visitation is from 10 to 11 at the church. Burial will be private.
