June 28, 1947 – April 17, 2025
Nancy L. Wesley (Achey), cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully left this world on April 17, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and adventure.
The daughter of Earl and Elsie Achey and Alma "Sis" Young, Nancy grew up in Manheim, Pennsylvania, where she formed lifelong friendships and organized luncheons for her school friends over many years. Her warmth, generosity, and devotion to others made her a cornerstone of her community.
She met the love of her life, H.C Wesley III, while working at Goodwill, and together they built a life of love, exploration, and family. Their shared passion for travel led them on countless road trips, cruises, and beach visits, creating treasured memories.
When her children were young, Nancy ran an in-home daycare in Lancaster, where she lovingly cared for many children in the community. Her home was a joyful and nurturing space that shaped the lives of the children she babysat and created lasting bonds with their families.
Her selflessness was evident throughout her life. She volunteered tirelessly at Sacred Heart Church in Lancaster, dedicating countless hours to the nursery, organizing bingo nights, and helping with spaghetti dinners. Her home was also a sanctuary for struggling young mothers and their children, offering them support and a place to rebuild their lives. Her love for all living beings extended to animals, and she cared for countless creatures, from birds and squirrels to rabbits, cats, and dogs.
She also held various jobs outside the home after raising her children, including roles at Weis Markets, Pensupreme, Core States/Hamilton Bank, and Turkey Hill. She formed lasting friendships at each workplace, leaving behind fond memories and strong connections.
Her faith was a guiding light in her life. Later in life, Nancy made Hope Episcopal Church in Manheim her home church but also frequently attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Mount Joy, forming friendships wherever she worshiped. Her dedication to her family was unparalleled, and she delighted in caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, filling their days with joy and adventure. From trips to New York City and museums to outings at parks and zoos, she made every moment special.
In her creative endeavors, Nancy was a gifted poet and baker. Over the years, she compiled treasured recipe and poetry books for her grandchildren, ensuring her love and creativity would inspire future generations.
Nancy is survived by her three children, Robin, Michael Wesley (wife Lisa), and Elaine Hamm (husband Brett); her grandchildren, Christina, Alexandra, Nicholas, Justus, Sarah, Jayna, Alice, and Sheridyn; and her great-grandchildren, Julia, Adam, Lucas, Ezra, and Morgana. She will be fondly remembered by her sisters, Karan and Judy, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Elsie Achey and Alma "Sis" Young; her sister Janna; and her beloved husband H.C Wesley III.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Episcopal Church, 2425 Mountain Rd., Manheim, PA 17545, Attn: New Playground Fund—a project near and dear to Nancy's heart.
A drop-in celebration of life will be held on June 29th from 1 PM to 4 PM at the Railroad Station, 210 S. Charlotte St., Manheim, PA 17545.
Her legacy of compassion, faith, creativity, and adventure will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
